Brave
Alice
Has
Passed
To a
World
Not unseen -
It’s like
Everyplace,
Everywhere
You’ve ever
Been – but,
For check-it-twice
Alistair,
It’s a
Very new
Place,
Where the
Lefts
Are the
Rights and
Vice versa
In space.
In the
Mirrorland
These two
Now find
Themselves
Speaking,
It’s always
As if
One or
Other is
Squeaking.
And if not
Hearing’s
Not quite
Enough
To make
Trouble,
With the
Mirror
Between,
They’re
Entrapped
In a
Bubble
That focuses
All their
Own thoughts
In their
Heads, whether
Up and
About or
Laid out
On their
Beds.
So it’s
No news
To find
That they’re
No longer
Close-knit;
In these
Un-wonderlands the
Two loves
Now inhabit,
They’ve got
Problems,
(and doozies)
Without much
To go on,
When a step
For one – better -
Sometimes feels
For one – bad.
How to
Find a new
Place , a
New time, a
New “ought” where
They’re both
Unencumbered,
Without glass,
Squeaks or thoughts?
This is
Simple,
Sheer genius,
As though
Freud
Said the words:
“Step together,
And closer,
And finally -
Get heard.”
